The purpose of the BEAR (Bariatric Equalizing Abdominal Restraint) is to aid in the transport of obese and bariatric patients in situations involving the use of an ambulance cot or a long spinal immobilization board. The B.E.A.R. helps EMS agencies save thousands of dollars by not having to call for a bariatric unit on those questionable large patients and at the same time, eliminating tipping of the cot and causing injury to the patient and transport crew.

The B.E.A.R. can be attached to a common long backboard, a standard ambulance cot, and a bariatric cot. Made from top quality high-grade materials that are chemical resistant, UV resistant, and that may be washed with soap and water. The mesh fabric has a bursting strength of 536 psi. The 1.5 inch frame straps have a tensile strength of 750 pounds, and the 2" abdominal straps have a tensile strength of 1,200 pounds.Total weight with bag 4.4 lbs.

Patients are Getting Larger - The obesity epidemic has grown to the point to where an average of 50% of the patients you see are technically obese.

Benefits the Patient - The B.E.A.R. helps the larger than normal patient feel stable, comfortable, and safe. Patient anxiety is reduced, making the transport easier on everyone involved.

Benefits the Transport Team - The B.E.A.R. reduces the risk of injury to the people transporting a bariatric patient. With the abdominal mass stabilized relative to the cot, the cot is more maneuverable and less likely to tip.

B.E.A.R. Helps the Budget - The B.E.A.R pays for itself many times over in just one use! Whether it's the loss of revenue from passing the call to not requiring the purchase of a Bariatric cot, you'll save hundreds to thousands of dollars! With the B.E.A.R. there is no need to purchase expensive equipment for your Bariatric transports.

No Need to Buy New/Expensive Equipment - For the price of 1 Bariatric stretcher you could outfit almost 20 units to accommodate the ex-large patient immediately with our device. Use the equipment you have- If your stretcher is rated to lift 700lbs, chances are once your patient hits 350lbs (for a 6' patient) they will not fit on your stretcher comfortably.
